Request account and data deletion
Nekan · Home · Privacy policy
If you still have the app, you do not need this page. Settings (⚙) → Delete account in the desktop app, or the Settings tab → Delete account in the phone app, does it there and then. This page is for when you have already uninstalled the app or cannot reach that screen.
How to ask
Send an email to nekan.support@gmail.com with a subject and
a body, adding a line if either of the two cases below applies to you.
-
Subject —
Nekan account deletion request - Body — the email address of the Google or Apple account you signed up with. A confirmation mail goes to that address.
- If you chose Hide My Email when signing in with Apple, the account's address is a forwarding address Apple made. Include that forwarding address. The app's settings show it; if you have uninstalled the app, find Nekan under Sign in with Apple in your Apple Account settings (on an iPhone or a Mac, or at account.apple.com on the web).
- If you signed in with Google and with Apple separately, include both addresses. Different emails are different accounts, so naming only one leaves the other in place.
What gets deleted
- The account and every task held on the server, text and notes and due dates included
- Syncing with your other devices stops
- It cannot be undone.
Tasks already on a device stay in that device's own file. Deleting the server copy does not empty the list in an app that is already installed. To clear that too, uninstall the app or delete the tasks inside it.
Verifying it is you
Every address you list gets a confirmation mail with a code only that address receives, and only an account whose reply still carries that code is deleted. That holds even when you write from that very address — a sender address can be forged, and so can the sender of a reply, so neither on its own shows the request is yours. Apple passes mail sent to a Hide My Email forwarding address on to your real one. The result is sent to the address you wrote from.
